The story follows David (Edoardo Leo), a 36-year-old suburban man with one goal: to earn the respect of his company’s president, get a raise, and be promoted to executive. His chance comes when he’s asked to present a revolutionary patent that could secure his big break. One night, he meets Marcello (Marco Giallini), a slick con man who fakes being a clumsy waiter. Marcello, aided by two attractive accomplices (Ellen and Mitra), quickly unravels David’s life — losing his fiancée, job, money, and home. Disillusioned, David tracks Marcello to a concert, where Marcello offers to “repay” him. Instead of reporting him, David follows him, and Marcello sets up a elaborate scam using Trani as a fake TV filming location. David, intrigued by Marcello’s world, joins in, leading to a big robbery of his former company — which turns out to be another scam. The film plays on the comedic tension between the “conned” and the “con man,” with bickering, mistaken identities, and a mix of Italian-style truffa tropes and high-stakes caper energy.
But as always, the evening is about more than the film.
It’s about gathering together sharing a meal, enjoying a glass of wine, and connecting with friends, both old and new, in a setting that feels like home.
