The film follows Luciana, a kindhearted and hardworking woman living in a small town in Lazio with her husband, Stefano. Their life is simple, and although money is often tight, Luciana remains optimistic about the future. When she discovers that she is pregnant, what should be one of the happiest moments of her life quickly becomes complicated. Her temporary employment contract is not renewed, leaving her without a job at the exact moment when her family needs financial security the most.

With Stefano also struggling to find steady work, the couple faces mounting financial pressure. Luciana searches for ways to earn money and support her growing family, but each new setback pushes her closer to desperation. At the same time, the film introduces Antonio, a quiet and troubled police officer whose own personal struggles eventually intersect with Luciana’s story in an unexpected and dramatic way.

Directed by Massimiliano Bruno and starring Paola Cortellesi, Alessandro Gassmann, and Fabrizio Bentivoglio, Gli Ultimi Saranno Ultimi explores the difficult balance between employment, family responsibilities, dignity, and survival. At its heart is the story of an ordinary woman who finds herself pushed to extraordinary limits while trying to protect the life she has worked so hard to build.

But as always, the evening is about more than the film.

It’s about gathering together sharing a meal, enjoying a glass of wine, and connecting with friends, both old and new, in a setting that feels like home.
