This month, we’re featuring-Finché c’è Prosecco c’è Speranza (The Last Prosecco)-With English Subtitles

Set among the rolling vineyards and picturesque villages of the Veneto region, the film begins with the mysterious death of Count Desiderio Ancillotto, a passionate winemaker who is deeply committed to protecting the land and preserving traditional, environmentally responsible methods of producing Prosecco. Shortly after his apparent suicide, two of the Count’s enemies are murdered, raising questions about whether the deaths are connected and whether the Count’s story is really as simple as it first appeared.

Inspector Stucky, a somewhat unconventional and persistent police investigator, is assigned to uncover the truth. As he follows the clues, he encounters an unforgettable group of local characters, including vineyard owners, townspeople, family members, and others who may know more than they are willing to reveal. His investigation gradually becomes about much more than solving a crime—it draws him into the culture, traditions, and complicated relationships of the Prosecco hills.

As the mystery unfolds, the film explores the conflict between progress and tradition, greed and respect for the land, and the importance of preserving the beauty and heritage of the Italian countryside. The breathtaking landscapes of Conegliano and Valdobbiadene become almost as important to the story as the characters themselves, giving viewers a wonderful glimpse into the heart of Italy’s Prosecco country.

Directed by Antonio Padovan and starring Giuseppe Battiston as Inspector Stucky, The Last Prosecco blends elements of mystery, comedy, drama, and social commentary into a charming and entertaining story. Rather than a dark crime thriller, the film has a lighter, warmhearted feel while still keeping viewers wondering how the mystery will be resolved.

But as always, the evening is about more than the film.

It’s about gathering together sharing a meal, enjoying a glass of wine, and connecting with friends, both old and new, in a setting that feels like home.
